Frequently asked questions
How many nouns does the generator use?
More than 700 English nouns, each with a definition and an example sentence. They are stored in the page itself, so the list works offline once the page has loaded.
Are the nouns really random?
Yes. Each Generate shuffles the matching nouns with a Fisher–Yates shuffle and returns a fresh batch, so you will rarely see the same order twice.
What do the CEFR levels mean?
A1 and A2 are beginner and elementary words, B1 and B2 are intermediate, and C1 and C2 are advanced. Filtering to A1–A2 gives you words a learner meets in their first year.
Can I get nouns that start with a certain letter?
Yes. Type a letter into the “Starts with” box and every result will begin with it — handy for alphabet games and alliteration.
Is my data sent anywhere?
